Our Director

Andy's barbershop involvement has spanned nearly 30 years.  He is an

active member of the acclaimed Boise Chordsmen, a large male barbershop chorus, and he has sung in a number of quartets.  He has directed men's choruses in such varied places as Texas, California, and Washington.  One of his choruses won the District Championship and went on to compete internationally.

Andy became Director of Syringa Sound Chorus in 2008, and it has

been a wonderful arrangement!  He has taken a small handful of singers and built a chorus.  At every rehearsal he challenges us musically, resulting in a blend of voices with harmonic overtones.  It has been an exciting process to experience our growth and watch our group blossom.

Andy's classical training is an

advantage as well as is his barbershop training.  His strong, full-bodied tenor voice landed him leading roles in the operas Tartuffe and Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters and supporting roles in several others.  In Boise, he performed the role of Captain Corcoran in Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore.

to teach techniques that will result in improved sound quality, breath control, and phrasing.  Andy's dream is to make Syringa Sound Chorus the biggest and best women's chorus in Treasure Valley, and he has a dedicated following who share his vision.

Andy has directed the Whitney United

Methodist Chancel Choir for several years and has recently been invited to co-direct the well-known Musettes in Nampa.  He gives private voice lessons and coaches barbershop quartets as well.

Singers new to Barbershop and those

who have not sung for a few years will find Andy a gentle instructor who can bring out the best in each singer.  He has a natural ability
